SSD with 500MBps Speed

Good news for netbook owners who use the SSD (solid state disk) storage. The speed and capacity of the SSD are bigger.

Indilinx innovation gives expression the Roadmap amazing for third-generation SSD, the speed of SSD that will reach 500 megabytes per second (Mbps). To achieve the target, the Indilinx joint with Mosaid develop SSD JetStream third generation project that will use SATA3 interface.

Beside Indilinx, there is Hillview. By designing SSD for server platforms, Hillview intended to reach the target by 1400MB speed per second! Meanwhile, quite far in the future, there is Niagara, which is the solution streaming server software that the target will bring 10Gbps speed.

This all still has to be proven. However, HDD (hard disk) gets difficulty to increase capacity of the storage (especially for the form factor 1.8 “and 2.5″) and its performance.

Samsung Increased the Speed and Capacity of SSD

It is good news for users who like SSD (solid state disk). Samsung has begun mass producing its 256GB SSD. Not only that, but SSD will fasten the speed than previous versions.

Despite may not be sold to retail, 256GB SSD will be in the hands of the vendor system so that we can hope that in the future, the netbook will use the faster SSD. Unfortunately, Samsung refused to reveal the price of its newest drive. Just enough information, Intel gives price U.S. $ 595, for its 80GB model, and some PC vendors sell it with a minimum price of U.S. $ 700.

The Samsung SSD is not the fastest (the data transfer rate under the 100MB / s). However, according to Samsung, its 256GB SSD will be at least two times faster than the 64GB and 128GB versions of it, with the rate sequential read 220MB / s and write rate sequential 200MB / s.

The performance, claim Samsung, sufficient to store 25 high-definition movies in time 21 minutes and display applications 10 times faster than 7200rpm notebook hard drive. Meanwhile, the power consumption of the drive is mentioned only 1.1 watts.

Hitachi and Intel Develop Enterprise Class Solid State Drives (SSD)

Media storage solid state drives (SSD) are more popular and increasingly used in consumer products, especially notebooks. However, it is believed that the SSD benefits will replace hard drives and will also be used for the Enterprises, the top-class company.

Initiative to develop this solid state drives Enterprises class started by Intel Corporation and Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) with do the development together. Both companies will work together to development and production of solid state drives Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) and Fibre Channel (FC) for servers, workstations, and enterprise-class storage systems.

Hitachi GST has been experienced in the drive firmware, reliability, and integration with the qualification system. While Intel has a complete manufacturing and advanced technology, so merging the two are expected to provide a solution with world-class performance and reliability needed for enterprise storage users.

A new solid state drives enterprise class to bring a number of design innovations, improving performance and efficiency of the use of power will change the enterprise computing.
The first products are expected to be available in the market starting early 2010. This new solid state drives will be branded, sold exclusive, and is supported by Hitachi GST using Intel NAND flash memory and SSD technology.

The Technology of new generation of this solid-state disk may not be able to replace the storage media hard disk drive (HDD) enterprise-class fully. SSD may be quickly absorbed for storage systems that require the performance of Input or Output Operations per Second (IOPS) and high-efficiency power.

Newest Wireless Technology

Do you want to shift images, video, and the other from one place to another place only with the shake-hands shake it (without touching the object) using wireless technology?
Now, you will be able to do so if you use control-based movement (gesture control) from Mgestyk Technologies. With a 3D camera and proprietary software, system control Mygstyk this gesture able to capture the movement of the hands and translated into commands.
This wireless technology can be applied to all Windows applications, ranging from gaming, photo slide shows, Web browsing, MS Paint, MS Solitaire. At the site, Mgestyk shows several games that can now be played without the tools, namely, Need Speed for 5, Crysis, Hello: Combat Evolved, Call of Juarez, Guitar Hero3, and MS Flight Simulator 2004.
If you see a clip of the video-clips on the site of Mgestyk, the system is working according to claims, although there is little delay. Currently no details about when this software will be released, but you can sign up to the mailing list to receive further notice from the Mgestyk.
If you can’t wait to find out more in this wireless technology, at 18 and 19 this month(November 2008) when you are in Montreal, Canada, you can visit the Montreal International Game Summit and try Mgestyk technology directly.
